Description

An exciting maternity backfill opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a clinical or counselling psychologist specialising in Tier 3 weight management within a forward-thinking service.

The successful applicant will be HCPC registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with doctorate level training in clinical or counselling psychology.

Post qualification experience in a multi-disciplinary physical health setting is desirable but not essential and the post provides an opportunity to develop new skills with supervised practice.

The post is based with the North Tyneside Tier 3 Specialist Weight Management service.

Psychology is an integral and highly valued element of the service, working closely with specialist dietitians and physical activity specialists to promote psychologically informed care from the point of referral.

Northumbria Trust is one of four national Active Hospitals pilot sites and has pledged as a Trust to a Healthy Weight Declaration.

This will work jointly with North Tyneside Council and focus on weight stigma and bias, which this role can support and contribute to.

The Tier 3 service is part of the local Healthy Weight Alliances and has excellent links with public health, Primary care networks, Tier 2 and Tier 4 service providers.

As well as joining the Tier 3 weight management team, the post is part of the wider network of clinical health psychology in the Trust.
