Description
A free and confidential family counselling service has been set up by Ignite Life in Bristol.

This is in addition to the one-to-one counselling service for individual young people which has been available since January 2021.


Ignite is looking to recruit a specialised family counsellor who would also do 1:1 counselling with young people.

Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent


Salary:
£25.00 per hour


Person specifications:


Qualifications/ Training:

  • To (a) either have completed a counselling or psychotherapy training course (one year full-time or two years part-time) with a placement of at least one hundred hours and to have achieved or be working towards accreditation with BACP or UKCP.


or (b) have undertaken over 150 hours of training and to have obtained substantial experience as a practising counsellor or psychotherapist with over 500 hours of clinically supervised practice, and to be working towards BACP or UKCP accreditation.


  • To have covered an understanding of a person centred and humanistic approach to counselling in your training.

Knowledge:

  • To have an awareness of the issues facing vulnerable young people.

Skills and abilities:

  • To have sound communication and listening skills.
  • To have a commitment to personal development
  • To have a commitment to supporting the needs of young people.
  • To have an ability to sensitively and appropriately relate to young people.
  • To have an ability to form positive, supportive therapeutic relationships with clients
  • To be reliable, organized, consistent, dependable and have an ability to handle a level of stress
  • To have a caring, sympathetic, sensitive manner and a non-judgmental approach

Attitude and approach:
11 To be willing to learn and to be open to feedback.


  • To have an ability to maintain confidentiality and abide by all the policies and procedures of Ignite and Impact Mentoring.

Experience:


13 To have experience of providing counselling either as a placement student, in private practice or working for a voluntary organisation.

  • To be willing to keep accurate records, review the client work from time to time with the Clinical Manager / Supervisor and participate in the evaluation of the service.
  • To actively take part in regular monthly supervision, individual and group.
  • To be able to travel to the counselling venues
