We are currently recruiting for a Business Support Officer on behalf of our public sector client.

You will help to provide an effective business support service to a diverse range of front line and statutory services in accordance with relevant governmentlegislation and guidelines.

Hours of work - Full-Time (37 hours per week) working Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (Hybrid)


Main duties:

  • Provide an efficient and confidential business support service
  • Deal with telephone and facetoface enquiries, providing advice, guidance, signposting, and support to internal and external customers
  • Triage and direct referrals and requests for service received to the relevant service teams ensuring a timely response and excellent customer service
  • Input, record, check, and maintain a variety of systems including bespoke databases
  • Organise and coordinate meetings, diaries and appointments, ensuring schedules and venues are appropriate for attendees
  • Undertake administrative duties whilst dealing with interruptions, queries and conflicting demands arising from customer queries and requests
  • Undertake financial administration including placing orders, reconciling and processing payments using electronic systems
  • Attend meetings and transcribe notes within a 3 day timeframe
  • Issue petty cash where necessary to appropriate staff

Personal spec:

  • 4 GCSEs grade A* to C (or equivalent)
  • Confident using Microsoft Office Applications
  • Experience within a similar business support or administration role
  • Experience working with highly confidential and sensitive information
  • Experience working with financial information
  • Experience minute taking using a laptop
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal formats
  • Able to handle and process considerable amounts of manual and computerised information ensuring accuracy of processing and safeguarding of sensitive and confidential information
  • Emotional resilience and composure when dealing with information and situations that are difficult and emotive in content
  • Experience using financial systems (Desirable, not essential)
  • Able to organise and prioritise conflicting workloads to meet strict deadlines
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Willing to undertake any travel in relation to the role when necessary
  • Willing to undertake a DBS check if successful
