An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cardiothoracic Directorate of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a Quality Assurance and Clinical Governance Coordinator.

We are looking for someone passionate about clinical governance to join the cardiothoracic clinical governance team.

The successful post holder will work closely with the Divisional Clinical Governance and Risk Practitioner and the Directorate head of Clinical Governance.


The main responsibilities for the successful post holder will include assisting with compilation of directorate clinical governance reports, supporting the directorate in providing assurance in relation to clinical quality, assistance in the communication and implementation of decisions taken by the Clinical Governance Committee, Mortality Review Group, Clinical Effectiveness Committee and Patient Safety and Clinical Risk Committee.

The post holder will also be responsible for supporting the team with Serious Investigations, action plan management and the incident reporting system.


Assist in the compilation of directorate clinical governance reports to assist the Directorate in monitoring and enhancing its approach to the management of clinical quality, and thus enable it to provide appropriate assurance to the Division in relation to clinical quality.


Assist in the communication and implementation of decisions taken by the Clinical Governance Committee, Mortality Review Group, Clinical Effectiveness Committee and Patient Safety and Clinical Risk Committee, where they relate to the service, and to monitor and review any changes implemented as part of the local clinical governance action plan.


Support the Directorate investigator to respond to Serious Incidents Requiring Investigation (SIRI) and Divisional level investigations within the Directorate in association with the Divisional CGRP and Clinical Lead.

Manage the investigation action plans and gain assurance any changes have been implemented.

Manage the incident reporting system within the Directorate, providing assistance when required.
