Description
Your future is here
A place to inspire
In a leadership role here at Nottingham College you will play a vital part in helping thousands of people reach their potential. We are Nottingham's College and together, we make a positive difference to our learners, to our communities and to each other. We're building better futures, for others and for ourselves. Here you will be at the forefront of curriculum development and innovation, ensuring our learners are equipped with the skills, behaviours and experiences to achieve at college and thrive in life. Here you will have the freedom to work in a way that suits you, the support to thrive and the opportunity to shape your career, whilst leading in a large and vibrant college that puts its learners at the heart of everything it does.
Who we need
High Pavement Sixth Form is part of Nottingham College which is now rated 'Good' by Ofsted. It is a city based sixth form campus for full-time 16-19 academic study programmes to over 1000 students in A levels, 14-16 Elective home education GCSEs and 16-19 Full time GCSE.
We are recruiting an aspirational manager for a full-time, interim position, to lead our established and highly regarded 14–16 provision across our five main campuses. This is an exciting opportunity to take forward an area that has developed significantly in recent years and is now in a strong, well-positioned place, with a clear identity, growing reputation, and a fantastic, experienced team already in place. Your main base of work will be at High Pavement but a requirement of the role is that you will work across the College estate.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Key Stage 4 (14–16) education and will oversee a curriculum that includes academic pathways (GCSE and pre-GCSE) alongside vocational qualifications across a range of subject sector areas. The role is central to the college's mission to deliver a high-quality educational experience for young people who are not fully engaged in mainstream education. Our 14–16 cohort includes Electively Home Educated learners, students infilling from schools and academies, and discrete groups commissioned by partner schools and academies. The postholder will inherit a well-functioning provision, strong partnerships, and a committed team, with scope to further shape and enhance this successful area.
Safeguarding plays a crucial part of the job and you will act as First Response Officer for all Pre-16 and Schools Safeguarding concerns with responsibility for coordinating an appropriate response through liaison with students, tutors, school Designated Safeguarding Leads, Local Authorities and Social Care.
As a member of the campus management team, the Assistant Head will be line managed by the Assistant Principal, work closely with the Assistant Head for 14-18 and collaboratively with the other four Assistant Heads based at the campus to implement the college vision.
You will have the ability to build positive relationships and inspire and motivate your colleagues to deliver a great learning experience for our students. You will have line management responsibility for a small team of 14-16 colleagues that provide essential communication with parents, schools and other key stakeholders.
What you'll bring
As Assistant Head, you will drive high standards of professional practice, ensure planning of teaching, learning and assessment is effective and lead employer/stakeholder engagement in your subjects to ensure we develop the requisite knowledge, skills and behaviours to support outstanding student attainment in exams to help our students to secure positive destinations.
The post will be shortlisted against the essential and desirable criteria at the application stage from the person specification. Please ensure that you use the Job Profile and provide a CV and cover letter. This should be no longer than three sides of A4.
If you have any questions, please contact Assistant Principal, Mandi Chandler or Assistant Head for 14-18, Chris Allright, for more details – /
Interviews / Assessments are planned for: 26th/27th February
