Job Description:


We have several opportunities across the UK for STEM graduates to work within our Buildings and Places team, to help develop innovative class-leading project controls solutions to improve investment decision making to our clients in the UK and around the world.

The roles can be based in our London, Birmingham or Manchester office within our Integrated Programme Controls Team.

AECOM provides project controls services to a variety of clients in both the public and private sector, and to organisations in all areas of the Construction Industry including data analytics, planning and risk management in:

  • Rail
  • Aviation
  • Highways
  • Water
  • Power
  • Defence
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Real Estate


Graduates will have the opportunity to work on local projects, as well as to interact with teams based across the UK and potentially further afield.

The project controls graduate will utilise and adapt their technical and soft skills to our established project controls approach or those of our clients and develop an understanding of the various risk management and overall project management strategies available to our clients.

The role can be varied and is dependent on the client, sector and project, which can include:

  • Gathering, assessing and challenging cost, schedule and risk performance against forecasts and baseline from multiple suppliers in multiple programmes.
  • Adhering to challenging reporting timelines while supporting client PMs to ensure they have the necessary information for their reporting needs.
  • Providing clear and visible added value by drawing conclusions from cost and schedule data, to identify trends and raise performance issues.
  • Liaising with Data analytics team to present findings in bestinclass dashboards.
  • Always look for improvements to the processes, pursuing a followthrough of improvement projects for performance reporting and control.
  • Work with clients to understand and evaluate strategic options to support investment decisions.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree (min 2.2 or equivalent) in a STEM discipline.
  • Member of a relevant body (desirable) with supporting accreditation / certification.

Skills and Experience:


  • Ability to demonstrate logical reasoning and analytical thinking
  • Effective decision making with strong verbal and written communication
  • Strong organisational, problem solving and time management skills
  • Able to produce auditable outputs with clear record of error checking and demonstration of validity in results
  • Ability to assimilate, analyse and clearly communicate information
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability and confidence to work with a wide range of Clients and Consultants
