We have an exciting opportunity to support the running and maintenance of the High-Performance Cluster (HPC) at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (WIMM).

The HPC facility underpins the world-class biomedical and clinical research carried out at the WIMM and is an essential resource to the research community working within the Institute.

The HPC Administrator will be responsible for providing in-depth technical support and advice to the users of the HPC facility, as well as knowledge of at least one of the following areas:

  • High Performance Cluster for scientific computational research
  • Linux servers (Ubuntu/RedHat)
  • Large scale distributed storage (Gluster/Ceph)


They will also support the operations of the Facility and input into the development of IT systems strategy and policy.

They will hold a degree, equivalent qualifications, or experience in a relevant discipline or related role. A scientific computing background is desirable, but not essential.


The postholder will be able to demonstrate effective time-management skills, the ability to work collaboratively with others, and the ability to take initiative in solving problems.

The post is a full-time role and fixed-term for 3 years.
