Protocol Education, a leading educational staffing provider, is actively seeking compassionate and dedicated PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) Teaching Assistants to join our dynamic team.

We present a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with a reputable PMLD specialist school close to Rochester, Kent.

Responsibilities:


  • Provide individualized onetoone support for students with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
  • Implement and contribute to the development of individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies in consultation with the class teacher and PMLD specialists.
  • Assist with personal care tasks, such as feeding, toileting, and mobility support, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of each student.
  • Cultivate a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes independence, communication, and social development.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and multidisciplinary team to assess progress, adjusting instructional approaches to cater to individual needs.
  • Support the use of specialized equipment and resources, including sensory tools and communication aids.
  • Foster positive relationships with parents and caregivers, maintaining transparent communication channels.

Requirements:


  • Proven experience working with individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities, ideally within an educational or care setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of various PMLD conditions and associated support strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication methods to individual needs.
  • Demonstrate compassion, patience, and empathy, coupled with a sincere dedication to supporting students with complex needs.
  • Display flexibility and adaptability, as the role may involve working with students across different age groups and abilities.
  • Possess a valid enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or the willingness to obtain one.
  • Hold relevant qualifications, such as CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
