Job brief

Gardener responsibilities include watering and feeding plants, trimming trees and hedges, mowing lawns, digging, weeding flowerbeds, and keeping green spaces and walkways clear of debris and litter.

You should know how to use and maintain landscaping equipment, including mowers and trimmers, while following health & safety regulations at all times.

You must be self motivated, positive, punctual and reliable.

You must be willing to support the development of our community gardening club and help promote volunteer working and learning to improve our community space.

A positive ambassador for our community organisation, positive outlook, good communicator and be self-motivated to help improve our open spaces for the benefit of the community.

Ultimately, you will make sure our gardens and green spaces are always healthy and beautiful.


Responsibilities

• Install and maintain seasonal plants
• Mow and trim green spaces
• Mulch, edge and weed flowerbeds
• Prune and trim trees and bushes
• Helping with waste bins disposal
• General labouring when required
• Maintain all gardening equipment and machinery, like lawnmowers and trimmers
• Monitor and maintain the health of plants
• Deal with pest problems that could damage plants
• Keep gardens and green spaces clear of debris and litter
• Support the development on The Oval Gardening Club for volunteers
• Encourage biodiversity through improved planting schemes

Requirements and skills

• Experience as a Gardener / Labourer
• Good knowledge of local plant life or a willingness to learn
• The ability to lift heavy objects using manual handling techniques
• The ability to remain on your feet for long periods of time
• A love of the outdoors, nature, and plant life

Job Types:
Permanent, Temp to perm, Freelance, Zero hours contract

Contract length: 6 months
