Main duties of the job:


We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Dietitian to join our dynamic CMS (critical care, medical and surgical) team, for a role within hepatology.

The department undertakes training of dietetic students. We pride ourselves in being a forward-thinking department with a strong commitment to continuing professional development. The post is 0.5 WTE with the NAFLD clinic running on a Thursday. We would be open to discussion of working patterns either 2 long days or 3 short days.

Education:


Essential criteria:


  • Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
  • Health Professions Council (HPC) registration
  • Additional qualification or BDA accredited courses or equivalent inhouse training in behaviour change
  • Significant experience of working in weight management
  • Experience of working in hepatology

Desirable criteria:


  • Membership of special interest group for hepatology services.
  • Evidence or portfolio of postgraduate continued development

Experience:


Essential criteria:


  • Broad range of clinical experience, across a variety of clinical areas
  • Experience of managing complex weight management caseload
  • Presentation to groups/teaching other Healthcare Professionals
  • Student training and/or management of junior staff
  • Leadership in an audit or project, and knowledge of clinical standards in the management of obesity
  • Proficient use of PC & working knowledge of Microsoft Office and nutritional analysis software

Skills & Aptitudes:

  • Able to work autonomously and use initiative
  • Evidence of specialist clinical knowledge in obesity management
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Effective clinical reasoning skills & ability to reflect on own practice

  • Effective verbal communication skills with a range of patients and healthcare professionals

  • Able to support junior staff to manage and prioritise their clinical caseload
