Full-Time Lecturer Business and Hospitality - University of East London International Study Centre

Within our University Partnerships division, our UEL International Study Centre has grown very significantly since its launch in 2018, and now offers:

  • International Foundation programmes in Accounting, Architecture, Business and Management, Engineering, Computing and Science, Hospitality Management, Humanities and Social Science and Law
  • International Year One programmes in Business and Engineering, and from September 2021, Computer Science and Hospitality Management
  • International Graduate Diploma and premasters programmes
  • Presessional, insessional and induction programmes for UEL international degreelevel students


We now seek an experienced lecturer to assist the Academic Director and Programme Leader in all aspects of the delivery of our Business and Hospitality programmes as a key member of the UEL International Study Centre Team.


Key Responsibilities

  • For instance some of the modules would include (but are not limited to)
    :Introduction to Business Environment:
  • Introduction to Accounting
  • Introduction to Marketing
  • Hospitality and Tourism Business Management
  • Marketing of Services and Experiences
  • Act as a personal tutor to an assigned group of students monitoring, in coordination with Student Services, their attendance and engagement levels.
  • Act as a student success lecturer and provide onetoone support to students during the term time, ahead of first submissions and during the resubmission period.
  • Be the module leader for a range of modules

This includes:

  • Design and development of teaching schedule and assessment design
  • Design and development of teaching material and continuous revision and update to the same to ensure material is current and relevant.
  • Coordination with the teaching team around marking standards and feedback expectations.
  • Report to the Programme Leader and Academic Director once a semester the overall results across modules that s/he has taught along with any modules s/he has been allocated as module leader.

Key Relationships

  • Report to the Programme Leader on all aspects of the role, in particular in the progress monitoring reporting of individual students' engagement and achievement throughout the semester.

Student Leadership and Pastoral Care

  • Ensuring the academic team provides the highest level of pastoral care, including acting as personal tutor to a diverse range of students.
  • Working with the Student Services team to support and promote the highest standards of welfare for students, with safeguarding being central to the team's approach.

The nature of the lecturer role means any limited remote/home working will only be possible, by arrangement, outside of term time.
