The Facilities Department of Sidney Sussex College is seeking to appoint a Carpenter/Joiner who would also do other maintenance work as directed by the Head of Facilities and will help to ensure the highest possible standard of maintenance is provided throughout the College buildings and outlaying hostels.

The post holder will work 37.5 hours per week. The salary is points on the University single salary spine currently £28,759 to £33,966 per annum depending on experience. Salary progression within this range is discretionary.

The working hours will generally be Monday to Friday. Some overtime and occasional weekend working may be required. Participation in the on-call service is required.

Benefits include an annual leave entitlement of 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays; a contributory pension scheme provided by the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), free College meals when on duty, and subsidised membership of the College's gym facilities.

This post would suit a pro-active, professional individual with a strong work ethic.

The post holder will also need to have practical knowledge and skills in most aspects of maintenance along with good organisational abilities.
