An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Estates Officer at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust to join our busy Estates & Facilities Management Team.


They will be responsible for the provision of a highly developed specialist service, technical and administrative advice and to support to the Head of Estates (Operations), and to also support all estates personnel within the maintenance function of the Directorate.

They will undertake delegated work associated with estates operations and maintenance activity and be responsible for managing and complying with all statutory instruments and guidance ensuring best practice related to the effective operation of the Trusts estate

Main duties of the job

To provide highly specialist technical support and advice to the Estates Managers as required.

To provide detailed advice and support on record keeping for legislative compliance.

To provide cover for the other estates officers in their absence.


To participate in the on-call rota providing a single point of contact for all site and off site emergencies by either attending site/telephone contact with site/mobilising contractors or emergency response teams consisting of other on-call colleagues and trade staff throughout the year, plus keeping on-call administrator informed as required.


To assist with the collection and up keep of information and records and to implement policies and procedures of the Trust and Directorate to ensure the delivery of an effective maintenance service at acceptable levels of risk.


To ensure that the Trust is not exposed to risk of litigation through actions or in actions of the teams.

The in house maintenance team is made of a workforce comprising of 60 tradesmen from different disciplines providing on-site service 24 7 to the Trust ensuring that patient care is delivered safely and without interruption.


The current team is well experienced with a large amount of knowledge that strive to provide the best standards of service, this in turn has created a good sense of team work with patient care being at the core of our working principles.


This vacancy would suit a qualified professional person who feels they can bring something extra to the team and enhance the service we provide.

Along with the salary annual leave starts at 27 days a year plus Bank Holidays.

Main responsibilities include to undertake the specialist lead/responsible/authorised person and/or support role for the following technical site wide services as required by the Head of Estates (Operations):
High Voltage Services

Low Voltage Services

Generators

UPS/IPS Services

Fire Alarm Service maintenance

Pneumatic tube systems

Lifts and lifting equipment

Provide specialist and professional operational maintenance expertise and advice to senior management of the Trust and external agencies.


To manage and prioritise own workload and provide specialist advice in relation to Operational maintenance and undertake duties covering operational and technical advice, liaise with the external inspectorates and other statutory authorities and develop, implement and review of the organisation's operational safety policy and procedures.

Person specification

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • A professional qualification in an engineering discipline
Desirable criteria

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
  • Membership of a Professional Institution eg., CIBSE, IHEEM, IFE, IFSM, IRM
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in healthcare estates management
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Significant experience of electrical estate management
  • A good overall understanding of the following engineering specialities
  • Generator & Battery Services, Electrical Inspection & Testing, Fire Alarms, Emergency Lighting, Pneumatic Systems, Ventilation and BMS Systems
  • Good knowledge of the following
  • Medical Gas, HVAC, Sterilisers, Asbestos, Potable and Process Water Quality, LPHW, DPHW & CW Systems, Steam Plant, Firecode, Sanitary Systems, Building Regulations
  • Detailed knowledge of the health & safety legislation appertaining to Estatement Management Renal Water Systems
Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of HTM's
