We are looking for a Housing Support Officer, who will support refugee households to join our team to deliver a service across Scarborough.
Our Service
Our service delivers a Homeless Prevention Service within the community, which prevents and relieves homelessness to single people and families who have been identified by the Council as at risk of homelessness and homeless.
The role
As a Housing Support Officer for Refugee Households, you will be working with vulnerable people, providing direct and indirect support to enable them to sustain their own tenancy
You will also:
- Support Refugee Households by guiding them with money management, accessing appropriate benefits and how to budget.
- Build and maintain excellent working relationships with other key agencies, for example, Refugee Council Citizen's Advice, North Yorkshire Police, welfare services, Jobcentre Plus, Social Care, drugs and alcohol services, Adult learning, Early Help, Living Well and a whole range of other services in North Yorkshire.
This is a challenging role but very rewarding and you will have the opportunity to give vulnerable people a chance to turn their life around.
What you will bring
We are looking for someone who is customer focused, works well in a team, has a passion for helping other people, great communication skills, both verbal and written.
It is vital you have good interpersonal skills and some resilience as you will be working with some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
Ideally, we are looking for someone with good IT skills, but this is not essential as full training will be provided.
