As part of a significant research project involving the University of Strathclyde - Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering and more specifically the Maritime Operations and Maintenance research group, we seek to employ a Research Associate to participate in the project research and development tasks.

The post holder will work on the EU-funded Horizon Europe project "

Green Marine:
Retrofitting towards climate neutrality". The aim of the project is to significantly accelerate climate neutrality of water borne transport through retrofitting existing fleets.

The project will develop retrofitting protocols and enable the implementation of GHG-emission avoidance solutions through the use of a software tool catalogue that gathers knowledge on these solutions.


The appointee will join a multidisciplinary international team of 10 partners from industry and academia across the UK and Europe.

As a Research Associate, you will play a key role in this project as part of a team, working under the general supervision of more senior colleagues.

You will plan and conduct the necessary preparations and action plans for retrofitting and integration of the suggested Carbon Capture solutions for demonstration onboard vessel/s; plan and support the engineering and preparations for retrofitting; conduct cross-cutting learnings, and post-development/installation evaluation of the suggested demonstrations.

Moreover, develop and integrate tools and methodologies for data pre/post processing and enable implementation for user-friendly APIs (Application Program Interface); conduct and support the project Communication and Dissemination tasks.

You will manage and prioritise your own workload and ensure that all activities are completed to deadlines and you will write up the results of your own research and contribute to the production of high quality research reports and publications.

You will input as a team member to administrative activities and assist, where required, with relevant teaching and knowledge exchange activities.
