Description
The Histopathology department at the RNOH is situated in the UCL Institute of Orthopaedics building.

The department processes approximately 8000 surgical requests per annum, resulting in over 30,000 tests that include immunocytochemistry, molecular and special stains.

The majority of specimens consist of bone and soft tissue tumours. There is also a relatively small amount of general orthopaedic pathology.

The laboratory provides both the RNOHT and UCLHT with a diagnostic service and also provides the histopathology for the London Bone and Soft Tissue Tumour Unit.

Our administrative office staff are important part of the service who accept referrals from both NHS and non-NHS referring clinicians both nationally and internationally.

These referrals make up approximately 55% of our overall caseload which our administrative staff are expected to handle with care, precision and respect.

The role will support the daily activities of the Histopathology service and include general administrative duties such as filing, copying, scanning and typing as well as answering queries, sending ad-hoc diagnostic reports, returning material, sourcing legacy glass slides/wax blocks, audit, liaising with MDT, tracking courier and postal packages, booking in external cases, assisting with PTL monitoring.
