An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the East of England Paediatric Critical Care Operational Delivery Network (PCC ODN).

We are seeking an experienced paediatric nurse to work with longterm ventilation (LTV) services in the EoE and beyond and provide expert LTV education, advice and support to health professionals working within the EoE.


The post holder will play a pivotal role in supporting the pathways of care for children and young people requiring LTV across the EoE.

Whilst focussing on education, the post holder will also play a key role in any regional LTV workstreams aligned with the NCEPOD recommendations.


The post holder will lead on collaborating with the EoE LTV service and regional educators in the continuing development of resources and training and support the development of a competency framework for health professionals in various settings caring for CYP requiring long term ventilation.


We are seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic and informed paediatric nurse/educator with excellent knowledge and experience of LTV care, able to work autonomously.

S/he will be an excellent communicator, able to successfully interact with multi-disciplinary teams. An understanding of national LTV and education frameworks is important. The post holder will possess the skills, knowledge and attributes outlined in the attached person specification.


The post holder, in collaboration with the tertiary LTV service, will lead on the delivery and evaluation of LTV education packages across the EoE.

Delivery of MDT LTV education across the network will be a significant part of the role, providing support to individual Trusts where required.


The post holder will continue building relationships with other ODN LTV and education teams across the country to rationalise resources and reduce variation in clinical care and education.


The post holder will ensure that the network is kept informed and acts upon national developments affecting LTV provision, education and training to ensure robust practice.


The post holder will take the lead in ensuring that clinical practice remains evidence based and up to date, and practice relates to the needs of the patients, in line with the principles and values of the NHS Constitution, National Service Frameworks, NICE guidance and current professional standards relating to LTV care.


The post holder will work with clinical teams across the region to identify patient specific gaps in knowledge and skills and offer support to improve patient flow and experience when moving from PICU to ward/home.


The post holder will be part of the PCC ODN Education team and collaborate and contribute to education delivery, where appropriate with the Surgery in Children and Neonatal ODN teams.
