Are you ready to dive into a pivotal role within our dynamic finance team? We're seeking a passionate and organised individual to become our next Apprentice Finance Assistant.

The Role


As an Apprentice Finance Assistant, you will become a valued member of our dynamic Finance team in James Fisher Offshore & Decommissioning.

Whilst being mentored by our Assistant Accountant, you will focus and take responsibility for our accounts receivable, related reports and analysis.


Your main duties will include:

  • Learn and support our accounts payable team, and other finance departments as required
  • Learning and taking accountability for preparing invoices, gaining necessary approvals before sending to clients and customers.
  • Logging invoices in our accounting software, Sage, in an accurate and timely manner including maintaining accurate records of invoicing.
  • Assisting the finance team with reporting and data analysis for internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting the maintenance of the finance central mailbox.
  • Provide support during our annual business audit.
  • Assisting the team with month end preparation.
  • Support the finance team with wider projects, and ad hoc tasks when required.


As part of your Apprenticeship, you will work towards a SCQF Level 6 AAT Certificate in Accounting which will be delivered by our partnered training provider, Babington Business College.

Through blended learning on your Apprenticeship, you will have devoted time to work towards your Apprenticeship through e-learning, tutor sessions, workshops, and regular progress reviews.


You will be supported by a mentor, and an immensely experienced team will be at your disposal for unwavering support.

Throughout your Apprenticeship, you will also have access to wider development sessions as part of our Apprenticeship programme at James Fisher Offshore to develop your professional behaviours and skillset to enabling you to develop within our finance team.


What we are looking for:

Experience is not necessary—we're looking for someone enthusiastic and eager to learn. This role offers an excellent opportunity to kickstart your career in Finance while receiving comprehensive training and mentorship. Your passion for safety and willingness to grow within our team are what truly matter.

Our minimum requirements for the role are:

  • Possess a National 5 in both English and Maths
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools i.e. outlook, excel and word would be beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
