The role sits within the Delivery Support Team (DST) which works on a range of cross-cutting projects and activities spanning DIO's main Delivery business areas, including Major Projects and Programmes and the Regional Delivery area which leads facilities management for large parts of the Defence Estate.

The Digital Projects workstream is part of the Continuous Improvements team within the DST.

The role supports the provision of a single coherent view of performance across the business to inform effective decision making, drive value for money for Defence and maximise resources available.

This workstream provides support to Technology, Data and Information Projects that impact on delivery, helping the business areas to gather and understand their requirements, collaborating across departments and with customers to achieve the required outcomes.

This role will support the delivery of high-profile Digital Projects that support change and improvements to the way DIO operates and the data we hold on to the Defence Estate.

You will be key in supporting the project leads in ensuring that the technical solutions enable the business needs, that there is a consistent approach and understanding across delivery and wider DIO and to support evidence capture required to make strategic decisions.

This role will also be involved in upcoming projects that require support to deliver across Customer delivery, challenging assumptions to ensure as a business we capture lessons learnt and enact that learning to in order to continually improve.

Post Location
DIO Delivery Support Team are based across the UK including Lichfield: Whittington.

We offer a flexible base location for this role and can therefore make another location your duty station where possible.

Main Responsibilities


Project Support to Digital Projects (70%)- Provide project management support to DST Digital Manager and Project Manager for Digital Projects.


  • Create, populate and take responsibility for project documentation ensuring that this is kept up to date and relevant.
  • Update and maintain project plans including regular milestone tracking as well as critical path analysis for the project.
  • Coordinate, track, and report on Risks, Issues, Assumptions and Dependencies (RAID).
  • Schedule, manage and assist in workshops and meetings, taking and distributing agendas, minutes and actions.
  • Promptly logging and raising change requests.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to drive Digital Projects forward.
  • Provide input, guidance and review project documentation (e.g. URD) created by wider DIO Business areas to ensure all projects meet the DIO Strategic Intent.
  • Support the future development, implementation and utilisation of IMS and Digital Solutions (25%)
  • Provide support to future developments for the IMS System and Digital Solutions.
  • Create/Provide documentation as required.
  • Support any training requirements for team or wider DIO business.
  • Promote IMS within the team and wider DIO business.
  • Promote Digital Solutions within the team and wider DIO Business.
  • Other Duties / Adhoc tasks (5%)
