An opportunity has arisen for 2 enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our multi-professional team at the Emergency Department at Southport District General Hospital.
We are looking for committed individuals who would like to take on a challenge and help develop the role of department-based Housekeeper within the hospital setting.
The ability to work alongside and support clinical staff with the day to day running of the ward environment during unprecedented times is essential.
Communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-professional team are critical to the success of the role.
Previous experience of working in a Housekeeper role is desirable although not essential as learning opportunities will be provided.Please note, this post is not part of the Domestic Services team and will be managed separately by the Ward Manager.
The ward-based Housekeeper role is a key part of the multi-professional team & vital in supporting the smooth running of the clinical areas.
The role involves ensuring equipment is available and appropriate stock levels are maintained at point of care by carrying out regular stock checks and completing the ordering process in a timely manner.
Stock rotation is vital in ensuring disposable items are used within the required time frame and new stock is ordered accordingly.

The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.

- Carrying out stock check for main ward area and higher dependency rooms in liaison with senior staff regarding stock level requirements
- Completing weekly stock items order
- Completing special order stock item requests as directed by senior nurse / therapist
- Stocking up Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) stations throughout the day
- Supporting wardbased clinical staff with cleaning schedules for equipment i.e. patient monitors etc
- Supporting Ward Manager with mattress audits
- Reporting faulty equipment as necessary
