A new outpatient diagnostic facility including echocardiography, MRI scanner and state of the art Siemens PET-CT has been operational since June 2016.

Rubidium-82 myocardial perfusion PET alongside a successful programme of fluorine-18 FDG imaging for myocardial inflammation, infection and oncology serves NHS and private patients.

The cardiac sarcoidosis forms a major component of inflammation imaging and this is the largest service in the country. The PET service is led by Dr Kshama Wechalekar and is supported by nuclear medicine consultants and radiologists.

This service has been steadily increasing over last 7 years and has contributed strongly to the clinical decision making and quality of service offered by the trust to our patients.

The post holder will be working in a multidisciplinary diagnostics and imaging environment.

The imaging department encompasses cardiac and general imaging with the following modalities:


  • ET-CT
  • MRI
  • CT
  • Ultrasound (including echocardiography)
  • X-Ray


The post holder will work alongside the imaging and diagnostic team undertaking clinical work in equal parts for all aspects of imaging.

The performing of clinical imaging and care of patients takes precedence in all instances with the post holder required to provide and support all the general aspects of imaging.
