£23,877 (£12.52 per hour starting rate)

Permanent, Full Time - working predominately 2:30PM to 11:00PM on a 5 on 3 off shift pattern.

The role of Porter is very varied, from being the first point of contact for students, Fellows, staff, and visitors' queries.

The Porter's role also covers security, reception, and emergency response.

The Porters' Lodge provides a vital role in the running of the College.

They are expected to provide a professional, friendly, and welcoming reception style service, whilst also overseeing the College rules and regulations.

Job responsibilities

Greet visitors acting as the first point of contact.
Provide a welcoming checking in service for students, guests and staff whilst ensuring access control.
Check vehicle parking rights, issuing notices, and reporting accordingly.
Answer and redirect phone calls as required.
Carry out security patrols and having an oversight of the security cameras.
Be aware of individuals on site and challenging unknown persons.
Record deliveries and sorting/franking of parcels and post.
Accurately record payments from students and visitors.
Make room bookings.
Proactively support all college events as required.
Providing first line support for welfare issues and escalating as appropriate.
Respond to alarms and other health and safety requirements (as appropriate).
Experience in customer service.
Experience of Microsoft Word, Excel and a willingness to use other IT systems.
Trained First Aider (or willingness to train)
Trained in the use of Evacuation chairs (or willingness to train)
Mental Health First Aider (or willingness to train)
Understanding of confidentiality
