Assistant Service Manager - CSS East & Chapelfield

£25,877 per annum


We are now looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Service Manager to join our very special team for our Community Support Services in Suffolk and with a real chance to enable further development of this Service.


The role will oversee very local community support in fun day activity groups, supporting the people we support in the local community and overseeing a 1 person scheme.

We support the individuals with holidays, visiting pubs, clubs, work and generally livingtheir lives as they would wish to. We minimise risk were we can and encourage a can do ethos. As an organisation we support young people to socialise and form friendships in activity groups, outings and holidays.


Working together with a support staff team, the role is 39 hours per week and can include various hours and some sleep ins.

The role includes admin time and it is expected to work every other weekend.


What will you be doing?

  • Take ownership for continuing professional development for self and the team.
  • Work with your Service Manager to use management information to make sound business decisions to encourage a solutions led culture.
  • Maintain a practical knowledge of policies and procedures and ensure appropriate usage.
  • Effectively recruit, develop and manage employees in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Act as the Service Manager in their absence.
  • Rota management and supervisions
  • Managing the team with annual leave, sickness management and training requirements.
  • Providing bespoke person centred support and advocating for the people we support
  • Group support and activities for the service

About you

  • Be a social care professional who is person centred, with experience in working with people with learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge.
  • Experience of supervising/managing a small to medium team within social care or be willing to be trained (including supervisions, probations, inductions).
  • Good IT skills and business systems.
  • Ability to manage own time and able to work under pressure.
  • To be able to take part as an on call manager alongside colleagues
  • Be flexible with contracted hours and be able to take part in the sleep in rota if required.
