About the Role


We currently have an exciting vacancy within our team to enable us to continue to build on our success and also bring new experience, knowledge and ideas into the team.

As the Band 4 Cook you will oversee the development and implementation of systems to support the running of the kitchen the heart of Ascot House.

Food is the most important part of a patients journey, it is what they look forward to and we have an excellent reputation in Trafford.

We want our patient to have a choice of home cooked quality food that meets their individual dietary needs. We are looking for people who will instill a culture of continuous improvement, through dialogue with patients and colleagues. We help patients to improve their health and wellbeing. Their diet plays a huge part in having the energy to take part in Therapy.


We have 45 rooms but this can vary so it is important to adjust orders and meals to reflect this.


Supervision of other kitchen staff will be required; this includes one to one supervision and EPIC check-ins to support others to work to a high standards.


About you

You will cook for up to 45 patients each day all meals are home cooked with fresh produce. You will need to be self-motivated, organised, passionate and genuinely interested in preparing lovely meals. This position requires a cook who can cook pies from scratch, bake apple pies from scratch and lots more.

You will be involved in weekly events like hydration week making lovely smoothies for our patients. We also hold coffee mornings with delicious home baked cakes.


You will be required to demonstrate experience in managing and developing staff, alongside leadership abilities and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

You should also have a minimum of 3 years' experience
_ _Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, NVQ Level - Catering or City & Guilds Catering.


Experience in an industrial catering environment of all aspects of service delivery, ordering, preparation, production and meal service is required.

You will be expected to complete paperwork to a required standard and undertake IT duties.

Ascot house provides a 24 hour intermediate care service for patients registered with a Trafford GP. The multi-disciplinary team provides Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work support as required.

In addition a designated GP practice and local community services such as nursing, podiatry, dietetics and speech and language therapy, will provide support at the unit when required.


The unit provides care for patients medically well enough to be discharged from hospital but who need short term therapy input and rehabilitation to allow them to return to their home address.


It also helps prevent avoidable hospital admissions by providing a step up facility for individuals in the community who require frequent and intensive therapy to progress their mobility and functional status.

Ascot house provides 24 hour Discharge to assess service for 9 Residents who are Trafford Residents.

The purpose is to complete a holistic assessment of the residents care needs for either return to their own home or 24 hour Residential home.
