Operations Resource Coordinator

Rail / Civil Engineering

Location - Warrington, North West


Due to continued growth and business success, we are recruiting for an Operations Resource Coordinator to take responsibility for coordinating the operational delivery resource for the North West & Central regional business unit.

The role is responsible for interacting with site project teams to deploy resources, and any requirements for upcoming work ensuring that current resource pool is utilised effectively and efficiently.


Business Unit


A busy and fast paced project environment with an expansive portfolio of civils projects underway including a line side rail civils contracts, bridges and structures renewals, large structural installations including new bridges, Access for All (AFA) schemes and general civils works.


Projects can typically include bridge upgrades and refurbishments, station work (platforms etc), access for all schemes, structures including bridges and footbridges, line side civils etc.


The Role
The key purpose, objectives and responsibilities of the Operations Resource Coordinator in the North West & Central regional business unit, includes:

  • Liaise with site teams & access planning team to understand resource requirements on a weekly basis and distribute effectively.
  • Coordinate with other business units resource coordinators to ensure internal utilisation is maximised.
  • Coordinate the rostering and planning of required resources to ensure that fatigue management rules are adhered to, and holidays and training have mínimal operational impact.
  • Liaise with operatives, ensuring they have all the correct site and shift information.
  • Asist with Emergency works labour requirements and liaise with sites to ensure the business can react efficient.
  • Liaise with external resource providers, raising orders where required and ensuring 2way feedback.
  • Asist with the approval of timesheets for both internal and external operatives.
  • Coordinate van/vehicle utilisation to ensure the most efficient usage is maintained, off hiring, and requesting from fleet where necessary.
  • Forward planning resource for blockades to ensure labour requirements are identified early enough to secure best possible labour.
  • Work with project and planning team to forecast requirements to allow proactive resourcing of projects.
  • Coordinate the training plan for the business unit and ensure delegates and site team have visibility of upcoming training to plan resource adequately.
  • Liaise with our training provider to organise, book and coordinate with site operative training.
  • Ensure that training and competence records are kept up to date utilising the Skills ID platform.
  • Work with the project leads and possession planning team to improve visibility throughout the region.
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance to ensure limited operational impact.
  • Asist with the implementation and training of new members on systems concerning resource management, rostering, fatigue, and competency.
  • Induct new starters to the business, ordering PPE, equipment and request appropriate access to systems where required.

Requirements:


To excel in this role, you will have a sound knowledge and understanding of operational delivery in a rail and civil engineering environment.
