The role


As a Functional Skills Tutor at HMP Featherstone, you will play a crucial role in helping our learners develop essential skills that will serve them throughout their lives.

You will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons, tailoring your teaching to meet the needs of each individual learner.

Your passion for education and dedication to our learners' success will make you a valuable asset to our team.

This is an amazing opportunity to work as part of a close knit, supportive team of 20 who are committed to staff wellbeing.

All planning and marking are done on site within the working hours. This is a full-time role.


The main purpose of the role is to teach Entry 3 to Level 2 learners studying Functional Skills in English, however at times you may be asked to cover other sessions.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver highquality functional skills lessons in English and Maths
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation
  • Assess learner needs and develop individualized learning plans
  • Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Support learners in achieving their functional skills qualifications
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes for all learners
  • Stay up to date with curriculum changes and best practices in functional skills education

The person

  • Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Gain/hold and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
