About the role:


Network Rail Consulting is currently hiring for an experienced Safety & Systems Assurance professional for the Digital Systems Program (DSP) with our client, Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW).

Since 2018, we have been a key partner to TfNSW's Digital Systems Program, bringing together technical and operational functions to deliver a ETCS L2 railway for TfNSW's heavy rail network.


In this role, you will lead the development of a safety assurance framework for a major system upgrade that is taking place across the Sydney Trains' network over the next decade.


This challenging role will involve helping to implement robust safety assurance processes which will be achieved through managing the hazard management process, coordinating safety documentation, undertaking audits, writing reports, and working closely with TfNSW.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Lead and establish the safety assurance framework for TfNSW, the System Integrator and the wider Digital Systems program.
  • Lead the hazard management process for the System Integrator and the wider Digital Systems Program.
  • Ensure all works are created in line with the approved evidencebased framework, through selective sampling and auditing of safety assurance deliverables.
  • Ensure the System Integrator safety documentation and processes concerning engineering systems safety management, safety risk management, RAMS, qualitative risk assessment, safety case development, technical reports, safety processes, SIL determination and safety integrity are fit for purpose and readily available for audit.
  • Provide planning and execution of support services to other teams in ensuring that specialist advice is provided.
  • Ensure the NRC AEO framework is followed by all parties working in the System Integrator for TfNSW.

Experience & Qualifications:

Essential

  • Degree qualified safety professional or equivalent demonstrable experience with significant experience in System Assurance.
  • Strong background in managing signalling programs, in particular ETCS Level 2, ATO and Traffic Management systems.
  • Experience of delivering rail project safety cases to successful completion on time and within budget.
  • Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer working towards Chartered status.
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and accurately capture, interpret, and implement agreed changes as required.
  • Good communication skills to interface with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to promptly investigate safety related issues and recommend the implementation of corrective actions.
Desirable

  • Prior experience of working in the rail sector.
  • Experience in the implementation of modern signalling systems CBTC, ETCS.
  • Demonstrable leadership and interpersonal skills appropriate to the position.
  • Experience during the development and entry into service phase of new rail infrastructure.
  • Affiliation with recognised professional body.
