Description
Perform day-to-day bookkeeping duties including data entry, processing invoices, and reconciling bank statements.

  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Liaise with clients to gather necessary financial information and provide support as needed.
  • Prepare Working Papers: Gather and organise financial documents and records to create working papers for the accountant or senior staff. These working papers may include bank statements, invoices, receipts, and other relevant documents necessary for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Document Preparation: Ensure that all documents are accurately categorised, labelled, and organised according to standard procedures. Maintain a systematic filing system for easy retrieval and reference.
  • Analysis Support: Assist in the analysis of financial data by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and other supporting documents as required. This may involve crossreferencing information from various sources to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously review and refine the process of preparing working papers to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Propose improvements or automation opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort.
  • Compliance Adherence: Ensure that all working papers adhere to relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. Maintain proper documentation and records to support compliance efforts.
  • Communication: Maintain open communication with the accountant, senior staff, and other team members to coordinate work priorities, share updates, and address any issues or challenges encountered during the preparation of working papers.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and changes in accounting regulations to enhance knowledge and skills relevant to preparing working papers effectively.
  • Networking: Attendance to networking events to represent the company, as required.
  • Support the accountant or senior staff with various adhoc tasks related to financial management.

Requirements:


  • AAT Level 2 qualification or above.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a small practice environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. FreeAgent, QuickBooks, Xero).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.

Job Type:
Part-time


Salary:
£11.00-£12.55 per hour

Expected hours: 22 per week


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Experience:


  • Accounting: 1 year (preferred)
- bookkeeping: 1 year (preferred)
