Main duties of the job:

This rewarding role requires an experienced registered nurse who has significant experience in an acute nursing role.

Hepatology, organ donation, transplant or liver transplant nursing experience may be an advantage but it is not essential, more important is enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and the ability to work autonomously, acting as an advocate for patients within the multi-disciplinary team.

  • Physical, psychological and social patient assessment and management of pre transplant patients.
  • Patient and family education in areas such as transplant process, medication management and long term health promotion.
  • In patient and out patient post transplant follow up, providing patient assessment, management and education.
  • Participation in multi disciplinary team meetings, audit, assisting in research projects, staff education and undertaking adhoc projects as required.
You will also participate in a 24 hour on call rota.

When on call you will be working closely with donor and transplant teams nationwide to facilitate life saving liver transplants for patients.

You will be the key point of contact for the patient, the donor teams and the surgical, medical, ward, theatre and support teams within the Royal Free.
