Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised individual to join our team as a Billing Administrator working a hybrid pattern.
In this role you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and time billing processes, maintaining financial records and adhering to regulatory requirements, including those relating to Criminal Legal Aid.
The role involves supporting the firm's Criminal Law Team and therefore involves billing in a range of cases, often with novel or complex issues.
This is a vital role in our organization, ensuring that all billing activities are conducted efficiently and accurately.Duties:
- Generate and distribute invoices to clients
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments
- Resolve billing discrepancies or issues in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate and uptodate billing records and documentation
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports related to billing activities
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to billing inquiries and resolving any concerns
Requirements:
- Proven experience in billing and Crime Legal Aid billing, with or related financial services role.
- Undertaking Crime Lower Billing, including police station and Magistrates' fixed fee bills as well as nonstandard magistrates' bills including submitting monthly criminal contract claims and dealing with fee earner queries.
- Strong data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
- Ability to analyse financial data and identify discrepancies or trends
- Familiarity with accounts payable processes and procedures
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Experience and education:
- At least one year's experience gained within a law firm is desirable
- Knowledge and understanding of Criminal Legal Aid billing and other systems of public legal funding is desirable but not essential
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with keen attention to detail. Ability to input and interpret complex data using IT systems.
- Experience of using legal case management systems, MS office and a willingness to lean and use other software packages as required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced environment and under pressure.
