In partnership with a sizeable SEN school, REED Education are looking to appoint a qualified class teacher (secondary) who can join them ideally from January 2023 on either a full or part-time basis (both considered).

The School

  • Cater for pupils with severe and profound learning disabilities.
  • Offer a purposeful and personalised curriculum, which is tailored to the needs of individual students in line with their Education and Health Care Plans.
The Role

  • You will plan and deliver lessons according to pupil EHCP's (Education and Health Care Plans), DFE guidance and the school's policies as well as taking responsibility for the day to day running of the class.
  • You will supervise and provide support and guidance to Teaching Assistants and Higher-Level Teaching Assistants and playing a key role in their professional development.
  • Naturally, you will take responsibility for implementing school policies and practices, including those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity.
  • Additionally, you will also be expected to carefully monitor the health, wellbeing and personal care of our pupils, informing care/medical/behavioural support teams and any other relevant professionals of any concerns.
The Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher status (QTLS or QTS), PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of inservice training is essential.
  • Experience of working with SEND pupils would be desirable.
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge.
  • Experience or understanding of successfully delivering a differentiated curriculum to pupils with a wide range of needs.
