Registered Nursing Associate Burns Unit, Band 4


We are looking for enthusiastic Registered Nursing Associates to join our burns teams in our burns dressing clinic at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

The role requires someone passionate about providing high quality, patient centred care and working within an excellent MDT environment. We are looking for someone who has high levels of positivity and excellent communication skills.


The successful applicant will demonstrate a range of clinical skills and competencies to support the delivery holistic care within our burns outpatient department.

  • Support to the Nursing team on daily basis to ensure a safe delivery of high quality patient care, compassionate care under direction of registered nurse or other healthcare professional, whilst working in close cooperation and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide high quality clinical care support to patients, in line with the Trust PROUD values and in accordance with professional regulations.
  • Accept delegated responsibility for specific activities/areas from the senior nurse in charge of the burns unit/and the unit coordinator.
  • Work in line with Trust policies, objectives, protocols and local guidelines, whilst also being aware of the importance of their role in supporting members of the team, and always adhering to the Trust values, and in accordance with NMC regulations.
  • Work autonomously in areas that have been deemed competent, and with others, to always deliver high standards of care to patients and their carers, autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Communicate in line with Trust values, to patients, carers and staff at all times.
  • Take every opportunity to continue to develop, practice and expand their own general and specialist nursing skills.
  • Maintain high standards of professional and ethical responsibility, and accountability and be aware of the medicolegal aspects of nursing, in line with professional, regulating and local guidance

  • Clinical
  • Support the nurse in burns outpatients to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized patient care through appropriate frameworks, including safe effective arrangements for dressing change preparation and instruments for each surgical case.
  • Assist members of the team in the coordination of the clinical activities
  • Support the team to use clinical standards to participate in the process of monitoring the quality of care delivered. Act to ensure that care delivery is of the highest standard, in line with Trust and CQC standards.
  • Support the practical knowledge and skills in the education of the junior staff or student nurse in burns.
  • Escalate appropriately after safe evaluation of care and initiate any action required, for example liaising with the multidisciplinary team of senior nurses, managers and surgeon.
  • Undertake any reasonable and relevant clinical or nonclinical functions commensurate with their banding.
  • Recognise and act on situations that may be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of the individual
  • Support other members of the caring team who may be responsible for implementing specific aspects of nursing care throughout each burns list.
