The Role:
As one of our Operations Supervisors, you will be responsible for the management and safety of circa 70 LGV Drivers based out of this site.
You will ensure that our safe, robust and effective ways of working are followed by our Drivers, and that operational controls are in place and managed effectively for safety, legal compliance, optimised customer service, cost effectiveness and resource productivity.
Reporting into one of our Regional Operations Managers, you will work closely with Operational colleagues, your Drivers, central planning and our clients; so having excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships is key.
Key Accountabilities:
- Liaise with Safety Admin Team to ensure that all paperwork is submitted on time and in full
- Assist with Incident / Accident Investigations
- Maintain business records in regards Drivers Tacho Adherence, (driver debriefs)
- Maintain Convey database in order to ensure that WTD legislation is complied with
- Engage with Driver Training Teams to ensure that Driver Training matrix is monitored and kept up to date weekly, (booking of courses etc.)
- Engage with driving team to ensure that they are briefed on business communications
- Maintain communications areas within the site, (notice boards etc.)
- Facilitate new driver recruitment and deliver end to end on boarding process
- Ensure that interactions with Fleet Control are managed effectively and that exceptional costs are monitored and challenged
- Monitor driver overtime, overnights and other associated cost variables weekly & report
- Analyse route data to identify inefficiencies within lane / route planning
- Monitor fleet usage and identify fleet reduction opportunities
- Identify opportunities with Microlise
Required Experience:
- An effective communicator, capable of setting standards and delivering performance through others
- Successful, proven background in the Transport & Logistics sector
- Experience of managing a fastpaced transport operation
- Understanding of transport legislation and drivers hours rules
