Description

We are looking for a mechanic greenkeeper to join our established team, following the resignation of the current incumbent after seven years, due to relocation. The role is first and foremost to maintain and repair the Clubs fleet of equipment whilst undertaking Greenkeeping tasks as required, particularly in the summer months.

The role is ideal for:

  • An existing Greenkeeper Mechanic looking for a new challenge
  • A ground care or agricultural mechanic
  • An experienced mechanic looking for a change in role that offers huge variety in jobs undertaken
  • Knowledge of Golf is not necessary but would be advantageous
Salary £26, £32,000.00 per year negotiable dendant on qualifications and experience.


Job Description:
Mechanic Greenkeeper


Reporting To
Head Greenkeeper, Managing Director


Role
The role is predominantly to maintain and repair the Clubs equipment with greenkeeping work as required.

  • To schedule and carry out routine maintenance and servicing of all machinery & equipment as well as all minor and major mechanical repairs as required to a first class standard as directed by the Head Greenkeeper, all in accordance with the Club's Golf Course Maintenance Policy, its Health and Safety Policy and the Greenkeepers Code of Conduct.
  • To carry out routine golf course maintenance tasks and additional tasks relevant to any course development projects undertaken by the Club.

Responsibility

  • Schedule and carry out all repairs and maintenance
  • Assist and advise the Head Greenkeeper to ensure the course machinery is kept in a first class working condition within the budgets previously agreed.
  • Maintain accurate PC based records on all repairs and maintenance.
  • Ensure that all workshop areas are safe, tidy and well presented at all times with tools and equipment properly stored.
  • Keep the Head Greenkeeper informed of new techniques relating to machinery and equipment use and maintenance.
  • Assist the introduction of new equipment, relating to machinery and course maintenance.
  • To assist in training the staff, as required, to carry out basic servicing and setup of all machinery and equipment.
  • Work overtime to keep the machinery in good working order, when needed to meet the needs of the business.
  • Perform all tasks to a high standard at all times.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and stored in good condition, and are cleaned prior to storage after use, each day.
  • Report machinery/ equipment defects or damage immediately.
  • Read, understand and then sign all relevant risk assessments before undertaking any task.
  • Maintain Health & Safety and work within the Club's policy at all times.
  • Maintain PC based work, machinery and fuel records.

Specific Duties

  • Schedule and perform a preventative maintenance program for all equipment
  • Ensure that all equipment is correctly serviced, maintained and overhauled as per the manufactures recommendations.
  • Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical defects
  • Keep full service and repair records using the PC which conform to both Company and Regulatory standards including costs.
  • Ensure that tools are kept clean and in proper working condition
  • Order equipment and supplies as needed and approved by management
  • Ensure that all equipment is stored correctly, set up and cleaned after use.
  • Ensure that all fuel, oil and other consumable's are stored in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Ensure that the Greenkeepers buildings and storage areas are kept in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Maintain an adequate stock of spare parts and workshop items and order replenishment supplies under procedures agreed with the Head Greenkeeper.
  • Inspect and confirm correct charges on supplier's invoices for all purchases relating to the workshop.
  • Arrange for the hire of any specialist equipment or machinery when authorized to do so.
  • Make recommendations and assist in the preparation of a budget for the repairs and purchase of replacement and new workshop/ course equipment.
  • Make recommendations to improve the appearance and functionality of the workshop area, propose any action, which would result in reducing machinery and course maintenance costs and down time.

Person Specification

  • As a senior member of the team you will ideally have:
  • Skills in the Management of the workshop in order to maintain the Clubs fleet to a high standard.
  • The ability to use your own initiative to create solutions and ensure continuity of the business.
  • Good communication skills to work effectively as part of the team.
  • Ability to manage and control stock, negotiate with suppliers and implement a service schedule for the fleet.
  • To interpret and carry out any recommendations but in addition must use own
