Role Outline
Origin Fertilisers supplies blended and straight fertiliser products to the agriculture market in the UK. Operating nationally from 12 geographically diverse locations providing maximum coverage of the UK.

Key to our strategy is a continuous programme of innovation and product development aimed at improving nutrient efficiency and farmer returns on fertiliser.


A vacancy for a Production Operative with multi-skilled mobile plant operating experience has become available at our Ipswich Site, situated on Cliff Quay Ipswich IP3 0BS.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a company that is extremely established in serving a strong agricultural industry.


The position requires a dedicated and flexible individual, willing and able to perform in all operational production activities within the site reporting to the Site and Assistant Site Manager.


It is a requirement to hold a vocational loading shovel, (front end loader) licence and preferential to hold further several vocational mobile plant licences e.g., counterbalance FLT, Telehandler.

It is essential to have proven experience with the ability to work effectively as an individual and/or as an integrated member of a small on-site production team to achieve the required production targets.


Main Responsibilities
General

  • To appreciate, understand and comply with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements in the workplace.
  • To understand company policies, standards and procedures and comply.
  • Able to work on their own initiative, be observant and seek out jobs to do, a selfstarter.
  • Take ownership of any job undertaken and take pride in their work.
  • Willing to undertake any adhoc duties as required.
  • Responsibility for keeping areas clean and tidy and hazard free.
  • Be receptive to necessary training and further development.
  • A good proven timekeeping and attendance record.
  • Be willing to work additional hours as and when required sometimes at short notice to suit the needs of the business.
  • Ability to cope and work in a demanding environment aligned with seasonal customer expectations.
Driving a Forklift

  • Take responsibility for the daily maintenance and cleaning of the forklift which could include greasing, arranging product stacks, fuel levels etc.
  • Ensure collection vehicle drivers abide by site safety rules when being loaded.
  • Completing tasks on site from moving finished goods, stacking / unstacking products and loading vehicles.
  • Driving a Loading Shovel
  • Provide raw materials to the Blending and Production Plant to ensure finished products are produced to schedule.
  • Maintain oversight of raw material stock levels to ensure management are aware of potential stock outs.
Oversee raw material deliveries to the storage area.

  • To be willing to contribute to cleanliness, inspection and defect reporting, planned preventative basic maintenance to both fixed and mobile plant, as part of the site operations team.
  • Maintain the site raw materials storage areas and equipment in line with company standards and policy.
Bagging Line

  • Maintain production process to ensure production targets are met.
  • Ensure products are packaged and correctly marked in accordance with production instructions.
  • Maintain the production areas and equipment through daily maintenance and scheduled housekeeping.

Skills Required:


  • Possess recognised vocational loading shovel, (front end bucket loader), licence and preferably;
i. Counterbalance FLT

ii. Telehandler

Having proven experience in safe and efficient operation

  • To demonstrate understanding of various types of mobile plant including the need for daily inspections and operator preventative maintenance techniques
  • Ideally have experience of feeding hoppers, loading LGV vehicles etc
  • Demonstrate experience of bulk material handling, receiving into store, handling and despatch.
  • Ability and work ethic to care for mobile and fixed plant company assets including cleaning and basic preventative maintenance duties, taking a pride in caring for equipment and machinery
  • Carry out equipment inspections and safety checks within their working area
  • Possess good personal aptitude skills necessary to develop, learn and be trained on;
i. Fertiliser blending process

ii. Product knowledge including raw materials, finished products and compatibility

iii. Bulk store raw material handling

iv. Site housekeeping

v. Workplace transport safety

vi. General site safety
