What does a Transport Officer do at Hillingdon?


We are now looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to Transport Officer - (Hybrid Evaluator/Scheduler) Policy, Risk Assessment & Monitoring/Scheduling within Passenger Services.


To provide an effective cross-function role that supports as required, the day-to-day Scheduling operations for SEN and ASC users transport in addition to Policy, Risk Assessment and Monitoring activities.

Manage LBH Passenger Assistants utilised for the movement of passengers for ASC and SEN and for the LBH courier service, including daily resource management to ensure planned and unplanned absence does not impact on service delivery.


Ensure that staff, vehicles, and service delivery attain the highest professional standards, and that all aspects of transport operations are safe, legal, cost-effective, and focussed on the needs of passengers, clients and service commissioners.


The role will provide an effective reception process for the passenger travel assistance service ensuring that children with SEN and adult social care clients entering the service are consistently checked for eligibility to receive service against Council policies, have their individual needs assessed effectively and have the most appropriate, most cost effective form of travel assistance allocated (in line with policy and legislative requirements) including the use of independent travel training where this is appropriate.


This position is an exciting opportunity for someone who is proactive and committed to driving change, continual improvement and passionate about positively developing our current service provision.

The post holder will work closely with the Team Leader - Operations and wider team of varied transport professionals in delivering the Council's passenger transport service whilst championing organisational cultures.


This is an important role as the post holder will be responsible for a large and varied portfolio of transport arrangements relating to the assistance, provision enablement and safe transportation of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

The role also requires the ability to innovate and drive change through best use of technology and an understanding of effective process management.

About you

Demonstrable experience of successfully working within a transport provision environment. A good understanding of legislative requirements and practical operation within a transport service is also required.


(Policy, Risk Assessment and Monitoring)


The role will require you to act upon day to day issues regarding safety and appropriateness of travel arrangements and to work with the Passenger Service Team to ensure that transport remains effective where appropriate.

Further, to recognise opportunities and deliver change for clients to achieve independence where those clients have developed significantly and would benefit.

(Operations)
To manage the day-to-day operation of passenger transport for SEN and ASC transport. Ensure effective management of available resources to deliver a timely and efficient passenger transport service.

To ensure that individuals are supported to travel as independently as possible, and all transport provided is delivered with to ensure the comfort, safety, dignity and wellbeing of passengers is maintained at all time.
