Role Overview


To assist in the supervision of children both in the dining area and in the play areas to ensure the orderly conduct, welfare and safety of pupils during school lunch breaks.

Key Accountabilities


  • Ensure reasonable behaviour and safe conduct of pupils by maintain good order and discipline, dealing as appropriate with all incidents of disorder ensuring that any disruption is minimised.
  • To attend to accidents and administer first aid if appropriate, following the school's procedure for reporting accidents and treatment.
  • To supervise pupils and to assist clearing away and tidying of the dining area.
  • To undertake random patrol duties, including the supervision of pupils after lunch, either inside or outside of the school building, being especially vigilant as to the health, safety, and security of the pupils within their care, and in accordance with the School Behaviour
Policy.


Person Specification

Education & Qualifications Essential Desirable

English and Maths (NVQ Level 2 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent
- qualification).

First aid qualification (or willingness to undertake)

Experience & knowledge
Recent and relevant work experience with children
-
Skills
Ability to be assertive when necessary and to follow instruction with regard to
- feeding and exercise.

Ability to react quickly to events and/or incidents.

  • Ability to understand and follow relevant procedures e.g. health and safety, child
- protection (including issues regarding restraint), school behaviour policy.

Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop effective partnerships.

  • Trustworthy, honest and discrete, able to maintain confidentiality
