The Department of Sociology is an internationally renowned centre for teaching and research in Sociology committed to public facing, theoretically strong, empirically orientated research.

Our postgraduate degrees see students studying and researching a wide range of sociological topics including:

social movements and political economy, health, medicine and the bio-society; digital sociology; the sociology of war, conflict, inequality, race, gender, work, emotions, beauty and the environment.


You will work collaboratively as part of an active network of Postgraduate Administrators across the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences, sharing practice and contributing to improvements to processes and procedures.

A range of training and professional development opportunities will be available to you.
