Along that journey we will ensure WPP IT is a destination for tech talent, modernise our ways of working, shift to cloud and micro-service-based architectures, drive automation, digitise colleague and client experiences and deliver insight from WPP's petabytes of data.


As we continue this journey, we have identified the need for a pivotal new role, the Head of Unmanaged, which will be responsible for managing and transitioning IT Services for out of scope agencies and developing a plan to effectively onboard out of scope agencies into the remit and responsibility of WPPIT i.e., managed services.

The aim of this plan will be to drive a seamless transition of services, maintaining service stabilisation with mínimal disruption to BAU, with the ultimate goal of driving WPPIT service consistency, cost optimisation and process efficiency.

This role will work closely with the Head of Managed to drive and deliver this plan.


What you'll be doing:


  • Understand implications of WPPIT's long term strategy in line with WPP's overall business strategy and objectives and ensure the IT support strategy and plan for unmanaged services is aligned to the Digital Workplace, specifically IT support services long and shortterm plans.
  • Manage Delivery of IT Support Services to Out of Scope Agencies
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of IT support technicians
  • Provide guidance, training, and performance evaluations to team members
  • Develop and implement strategies for maintaining and optimizing groundlevel IT systems
  • Oversee hardware and software installations, upgrades, and maintenance
  • Ensure prompt and effective troubleshooting of issues related to systems, networks, enduser device and peripherals
  • Implement and enforce security protocols to safeguard network integrity
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations pertaining to IT security and data privacy
  • Work closely with stakeholders across service management, third party, business partners and respective functions to ensure delivery of IT Support services
  • Work closely with PMO, HR, IT Finance and Operations teams to ensure delivery of target state operating structure
  • Collate, analyse, and scope Agency data for 'unmanaged' IT staff, assets, processes, contracts, resources, and services
  • Translate strategy into plans and milestones for Agency IT service onboarding and transition for Ground IT support
  • Work closely with WPP Transformation office, to understand WPP IT and Agencyspecific projects or programmes that may impact the scoping, onboarding, and transitioning of resources, processes and services.
  • Work closely with Service Management to identify existing services within the service catalogue which can be provided for Agencies as they transition into WPP IT managed services
  • Work closely with Service Management to identify new services that currently do not exist in the service catalogue, which will therefore need to be designed and developed for Agencies as they transition into WPP IT managed services
  • Work alongside WPP IT and Agency IT leadership (in conjunction with Business Partners) to develop a transition plan for resources, processes and services
  • Identify opportunities for greater efficiency through process and resource optimisation
  • Support implementation of 'target' IT support service structure and roles
  • Adopt and embed 'target' IT support service culture and ways of working
