Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is currently recruiting a HSE Advisor at St Fergus Gas Terminal on a permanent basis.


The Role

  • Provides support, assurance and advice on all matters relating to the Health, Safety, Security, & Environment (HSSE).
  • Promote an enthusiastic HSSE culture that delivers positive commitment to, and engages all employees in, continuous performance improvement.

Responsibilities:


  • Provide direct, front facing HSSES support to SAGE contract
  • Directly supervise the role of the SAGE safety technician
  • Liaise fully with offsite Wood HSSES personnel, including, but not limited to Wood environment manager and Wood HSE manager
  • Own, and be accountable, for delivery of SAGE specific Annual HSE plan
  • Host, facilitate and support HSE emergency response exercises, both internal and external
  • Liaise directly with MDP (Ministry of Defence) Police, interfacing and communicating two way
  • Supervise, monitor and direct as applicable, SAGE Security contractor company
  • Actively encourage, endorse and support SAGE safety reps, environment reps and human factors reps with regular engagement and promotion of their activities
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the HSSE management system and progress against the Wood HSSE Performance Standards. Make recommendations for improvement where appropriate
  • Provide assistance and advice to the Project Manager's, when needed, with responsibility for HSSE
  • Contribute towards developing annual HSSE objectives and monitor and report on the implementation and effectiveness
  • Assist with the identification of HSSE training needs and monitor delivery and recording
  • Produce HSSE performance reports as required
  • Promptly alert line and functional management to significant accidents and incidents. Where appropriate be involved in the investigation and ensure that the findings are reported and appropriately shared
  • Support on, investigate and review accident and incident reports. Identify any trends and ensure that there is appropriate response to prevent future occurrence
  • Planning, coordination, and delivery of internal audits for SAGE. Close out of assurance actions in a timely manner ensuring that findings are reported and shared appropriately and opportunities for improvement sought
  • Maintain compliance with HSSE legislative requirements, provide updates as required
  • Writing of technical documents such as procedures, management documents, investigation reports and audits
  • Contribute towards development of bids, when applicable
  • Enable the options of Cross site visits to adjacent St. Fergus terminals to provide support, coaching, collaboration, and best practice
  • Provide support to Function and / or other projects as necessary
  • This position is required to additionally fulfil the role of SAGE duty manager, focusing on emergency response coordination, on a rotational call out basis, necessitating the requirement for a maximum one hour typical driving distance from SAGE gas plant when on call. As a result of this requirement, an on duty allowance is additionally paid for time spent on call, claimable through the established time writing process

Skills / Qualifications:

Employment is conditional upon gaining and maintaining National Security Vetting to BPSS/ SC level.

Qualifications:


  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Auditor training
  • Incident Investigation training
  • IOSH Managing Environmental Responsibilities (or similar)
  • Member of IOSH

Skills:


  • Demonstrable experience in a HSSE Advisory role within the Energy/Renewables/Power / Utility Industry or similar
  • HSSE coaching and training delivery
  • Presentation skills
  • Full Clean UK Driving License
