Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm
The Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm, currently in late-stage development, will see up to 72 turbines located 15 km off the Angus Coast and connect to the National Grid at Cockenzie, East Lothian.
Once complete, it will be one of Scotland's largest single sources of renewable energy and power up to 1 million homes with clean electricity.
Summary of Assignment:
The role will be located at the Cockenzie (East Lothian) Onshore Substation Site for the duration of Main Civil & Mechanical/Electrical construction activities.
The Clerk of Works will oversee site construction activities carried out by the Principal Contractor andContractors, ensuring Health and Safety practices and the quality of materials and workmanship are in accordance with the Inch Cape Project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring a high SHEQ standard is maintained by the contractors throughout the Works,which will includebut not be limited to:
- Ensuring compliance with specifications on both technical and workmanship aspects
- Monitoring and reporting on contractor progress to programme
- Monitoring contractors and ensuring the use of correct PPE, equipment and working practices
- Reviewing Method Statements and Risk Assessments to ensure compliance
- Monitoring that all necessary permits/ATWs are in place
- Reporting of safety and technical related issues
- Record keeping and progress reporting on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
- Adhoc duties where required as member of Inch Cape site management team
Skills:
- Time served apprenticeship with BTec/ONC/HNC qualification (or equivalent) in related building/civils/ground works, construction or engineering discipline.
- IT literate and experience with MS Office
- Fluent written & verbal English.
- Excellent attention to detail when checking work and materials
- Ability to establish appropriate working relationships with contractor's staff
Knowledge:
- Experience working in a similar capacity.
- Familiarity with Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 201
- A good working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
- Experience of Onshore Substation ideally with Scottish Power, National Grid or a DNO
- A working knowledge of appropriate Specifications typically National Building Specification, NGTS, Codes for reinforced concrete, drainage and structural steel
Qualifications:
- SMSTS (or equivalent) certified.
- Construction Industry Certification Scheme Membership.
- NEBOSH certified (desirable)
