More about the environmental workstream:


The SRO environmental workstream is integral to Severn Trent's SRO scheme and is led by the Environment and Water Resources Lead.

This workstream drives environmental performance on the SRO programme.

We work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary project teams with regulators, specialists, and consultants to deliver environmental design for the SROs, at each stage of the gated process.


Key Responsibilities of an Environmental Technical Lead include**:
You'll lead our delivery of one or more of the EIAs within Severn Trent's SRO Environment team.

You'll manage and contribute to the environmental and technical work packages being delivered by consultants. Building trust with regulators to ensure the required outcomes for the EIA.

You'll work with technical experts inside and outside the organisation to get the best outcome for the SRO's.

Following cross
- company procurement guidance to procure work packages.

You'll assure and prepare environmental input to the regulatory gate papers submitted to RAPID.


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Evidence of collaborative working with consultants, engineers, project managers, other water companies and regulators

Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation in the UK and awareness of potential future changes.


Experience of Stakeholder Management as you'll need to build trusting relationships with our environmental and water quality regulators along with stakeholders.

Understanding of the relevant regulatory, social, political and environmental drivers that affect Severn Trent.


An experienced and engaging environmental professional, who takes pride in their work, embraces curiosity, has courage to lead and shows care to all those around.


  • A successful track record of delivering all stages of EIA's for major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong technical background in environmental assessment (e.g., EIA/ SEA, hydrology, ecology, natural capital, water transfers)
  • Strong leadership skills, project management experience and budget control.
  • Experience guiding and appraising work delivered by consultants to ensure it meets our requirements
  • Ability to provide or interpret technical advice/reports and communicate this to various parties at an appropriate level of detail
  • Understanding of the relevant planning and consenting regimes for EIA and SEA work.
  • Ability to turn data and reports in to informative and engaging material to update internal teams, external parties and senior management.
  • Strong analytical skills, with ability to quickly assimilate information, think broadly and ask questions about data, facts and other information.
  • Ability to manage and direct junior staff members with the team.
  • Ability to successfully deliver high quality work on multiple commitments under pressure.

Desirable:


  • Professional chartership or clear path to achieving chartership
  • Experience of the DCO and/or WRMP process
