Application Support/Technical BA - Insurance and SQL

Permanent

This role would suit a 'second jobber' someone to is engaging, proactive will challenge the 'status Quo', and someone who has a collaborative approach to their work.


My prestigious specialty insurer's IT Underwriting Team is made up of Business Systems Analysts (BSAs) and Development & Testing people who deliver day-to-day 'Business as Usual' support.

You will be working alongside a team of around 6 people with around 25 people in the whole team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team of like-minded people. You must have strong Application support experience coupled with strong SQL experience, especially in writing queries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Application support
  • IT point of contact for Business
  • To provide support and guidance to the business users
  • Assist with Evaluation of defects, and enhancements through to resolution.
  • The document, maintain and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Manage, prioritise, and resolve incoming issues either independently or utilising other team members or 3rd line support (developers)
  • Develop system test plans and test scripts and approves new system behaviors to ensure alignment with business/system objectives.
  • Work with other departments to coordinate interdepartmental activities in order to meet business expectations. Assists in problem resolution as needed to ensure prompt, efficient service in accordance with company policies.
  • Develop and maintain procedural and policy documentation.
  • Communication of releases, updates, and enhancements to the relevant departments.
Skills and Experience

  • Experience supporting and administrating insurancebased underwriting systems.
  • SQL problem solving
  • Understanding of SQL database structures and practices
  • Experience in User support processes (Business)
  • General knowledge of IT concepts and methodologies, systems development lifecycle, information management, and portfolio management (production systems, release planning, change management).
  • Knowledge of business functions and business operations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and presentation skills.
