Description

Job description
We're a small charity that makes a huge difference to the lives of children and young people. We operate two centres, one near the coast in Cornwall and one in the Derbyshire Peak District.

This year we aim to welcome 1000 children on residential breaks, all year round, and we have ambitions to grow this number.

We have some exciting opportunities for 1 exceptional individual who shares our enthusiasm for working with children.

Giving them opportunities to make new friends, try new things, spend time in nature, team building challenges, creative expression and lots of giggles.

We welcome small groups of children aged 8-13 to make special memories with Go Beyond.

As Team Leader you will be responsible for ensuring the organisation, smooth running and day-to-day quality of our breaks. These are residential breaks for small groups of children aged who are facing challenges. We offer a safe, nurturing, and fun escape from their everyday lives.

You will ensure that fun, creative and adventurous activities are delivered in a safe and inspiring manner, making the most of our amazing centre, with their access to the countryside, along with ensuring the provision of evening and overnight supervision.

This is a year-round, full-time position which currently involves working Monday to Friday. Your working day will vary as we run a rota of both day and overnight residential duties.

You will be responsible for planning the breaks, including working with our Referral Coordinators to understand the needs of the children coming to us, planning the activities onsite as well as organising offsite visits, and making sure we have all the staff and volunteers we need to make the break a success.

This role includes managing a small team of break leaders, including recruitment, training, and supervision. You will need to spend time on the break to watch them in action and offer your support. You will also need to cover any periods of absence. This means there will be some overnight duties included.

Our break Leaders currently work on a rota of two weeks on and one week off, giving us some flexibility for other visitors to enjoy our sites during these 'options weeks'.

You will also have up to four volunteers joining the residential break every week who will need to be trained, supported and guided.

Scope and Purpose:

The Team Leader role is to oversee and help deliver high quality, safe breaks for the children and young people visiting our centres.

You will develop and manage the Break Leader team to inspire, enthuse and guide groups of children throughout the break, promoting lasting positive memories and learning in line with Go Beyond policies, procedures and mission statement.

This includes an awareness of and a keenness to share your love of the outdoors and the special environments around our centres.

You will make sure the children receive the best break possible by maintaining high quality delivery and ensuring that the health and welfare of the children is never compromised.

You will understand the potential of our centres and will work with the Centre Manager and Senior Leaders to think about how even more children could benefit from them in addition to our own residential breaks.
