We are looking for a qualified Practitioner Psychologist (must be HCPC registered) to lead the psychological therapies provision into our Personality Disorder Unit and Rehabilitation Services.

The Fern Unit at Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal is a 10-bedded specialist dialectical-behavioural therapy (DBT) service dedicated to supporting females with personality disorder to acquire the skills to effectively manage their own emotions, be interpersonally effective and tolerate distress.

Our aim is to help patients to live a happier, more independent life.

The post holder will work closely with a skilled and well established multi-disciplinary team of professionals, including a Consultant Psychiatrist, Occupational Therapist and experienced nursing team, all of whom receive DBT training.


The clinical aspect of the role will involve psychological assessment, formulation, delivering both group and individual DBT Therapy, providing a psychological perspective to decision making around patient care, attendance at ward rounds and CPA review meetings, and working closely with and providing support to ward teams to foster trauma informed approaches to care.

The post holder will form part of the leadership team within the psychological therapies department and will be involved in providing positive and containing leadership, supervision and consultation, and service development across both the Fern Unit and the Adult Rehabilitation Service.
