Transport Operator | Full time | Site Based | Chatham


Join us as our Transport Operator for 15 Month Maternity cover in our Chatham Transport office with the possibility of becoming a permanent position.

In this role you will have the responsibility to deliver and support the transport operational plan.

You will ensure that all operational activities are undertaken in a safe, legal and cost-effective manner whilst meeting operational KPIs and network objectives.


THE SALARY
Up to £26, Negotiable, based on experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:


  • Contributing towards effective planning and organisation of vehicles and drivers.
  • Efficient control of costs and planning to ensure the optimum resource utilisation.
  • Despatch drivers /loads.
  • Brief and debrief Drivers.
  • Liaise with company workshops and service providers to ensure vehicle maintenance standards are met.
  • Ensure EU drivers legislation is adhered to.
  • Working unsupervised, continually managing time and prioritising work to meet tight deadlines
  • Data Input and use of computer systems.
  • Updating customers with delivery details in real time.
  • Assorted general administrative tasks.
  • Dealing with queries and follow an escalation process as required.
  • Filing and keeping of records.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Qualifications. Level 2 in English & Maths.

Experience. Industry knowledge of distribution, logistics and supply chain management. Experience of a complex logistics operations. Transport Planning / Operational background preferred. Knowledge of relevant legislation (drivers hours / Vehicle weights / dimensions etc. ) desirable. Experience of data Input and use of computer systems. Competent in standard PC suites i.e.; office, excel, outlook.
Communication. You will have excellent communication skills, spoken and written. Team player.
Planning & Organisation. Excellent attention to detail. Good organisational skills. Good at task management and prioritisation. Able to work unsupervised, continually managing time and prioritising work to meet tight deadlines. Ability to work under pressure. Flexible attitude to working hours.
