Power Systems Engineer

Take part in transforming UK's energy systems by joining this independent consultancy centre and work on multiple exciting projects focusing on areas such as renewables, carbon capture, hydrogen, energy storage and more Assist stakeholders in their journeytowards Net Zero and get involved in the whole project lifecycle, from bidding and shaping projects, to delivery and dissemination.


  • Provide expertise in the role of electricity networks in their journey towards Net Zero.
  • Variety of different projects with international organisations.
  • Super flexible working arrangements work hybrid or remotely, with numerous opportunities for progression and development.

What you'll be doing:


  • Supporting several projects, including: Transmission and distribution networks, Flexibility Services, Operability, DSO Transition.
  • Providing information on the power system and creating solutions.
  • Leading bid proposals for different funding opportunities.
  • Advising customers and stakeholders on various topics; electricity markets and network charging, operability challenges, integration of renewable technologies, accelerating power systems in the net zero and more.
  • Preparing written documentation such as briefing materials, consultation reports etc.

What experience you'll need to apply:

  • Higher education or relevant work experience in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • Experience in a broad spectrum of Power Systems on an electricity transmission or distribution network.
  • Strong theoretical knowledge in Power Systems.
  • Previous work experience running analysis/research using power systems tools (e.g. IPSA, DIgSILENT PowerFactory or similar).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to create and showcase presentations for large audiences; customers, forums and working groups.
  • Being a Chartered Engineer or working towards the qualification is not necessary, but would be strongly beneficial.
