Overall Purpose of the Job
To work across front of house food and beverage operations as directed by the Food and Beverage Manager and Supervisory team.
To ensure the service areas are correctly presented, kept clean and fully stocked throughout the day.
To adhere to all standard operating procedures whilst on shift.
Key Responsibilities, Accountabilities or Duties
Standards:
- Ensure all tasks are carried out to the required standards as set by the Food and Beverage Manager.
- Operate the EPOS till, ensuring wastage and operating errors are correctly recorded.
- Ensure stock is rotated and displayed to the required standard.
- Maintain a clean working environment for customers by ensuring cleaning schedules are completed whilst on duty using the Digital Food Safety Platform.
- Maintain a safe working environment for customers by adhering to all applicable food safety, health and safety and licensing legislation.
- Read daily briefings and shift handovers to familiarise yourself with business requirements whilst on shift.
- Report any issues or concerns to the Food and Beverage Supervisor/Manager.
- Provide a food and beverage service for conferences and events as directed by the Food and Beverage Manager/Supervisor.
- Serve all customers in an efficient and courteous manner.
- Provide menu and allergen information to customers as required.
- Respond to customer concerns in a polite and productive manner.
- Highlight low stock items for reorder.
- Complete daily paperwork in line with the Food Safety Management System.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
- To ensure that reasonable care is taken at all times for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and other persons and to comply with the policies and procedures relating to health and safety within the College.
- To ensure all front of house equipment is well maintained and kept in good working order.
- To ensure the correct use of cleaning materials and equipment in accordance with COSHH guidance.

One year's experience in a catering environment
Experience of organising own tasks whilst on shift

Experience within a theatre setting
Experience working in a bar/restaurant environment
Experience working on conferences/events

Good standard of education. GCSE passes at Grade C or above in maths and English.

This role is physically demanding, as such the post holder should have the ability to remain standing for the duration of a shift and have the ability to replenish service areas with stock and light equipment e.g plates, glassware.
Summary of Terms and Conditions
Salary:
Grade 2 plus market supplement, currently £15,749 to £17,191 per annum (actual pro rata salary for hours of work).
Hours of Work:
Term Time only - 35 hours per week, 35 weeks per year. The Department is operational seven days per week, hours of work will be scheduled according to business requirements.
Annual Leave: 20 days per year, rising to 25 after 5 year's continuous service, plus 2 statutory days and all bank holidays. These will be pro-rated to actual hours worked, and will be taken during College vacation periods.
