The Salvation Army in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland (UKI) Territory is both a Church and a Charity whose mission is to bring people to Christ and provide social welfare services.


The IT Department supports the wide variety of services provided by The Salvation Army UKI, many requiring different approaches and solutions.

We are looking for an Intranet Content Specialist to lead the content creation activities within the Intranet Modernisation Project.

The Intranet Content Specialist will partner with different stakeholders throughout The Salvation Army to support their content requirements. They will develop and manage a community of content creators to implement best-practice content and community engagement plans. They will also act proactively to improve our Intranet platform, including search optimisation, community navigation, layout and branding.


The Intranet Content Specialist will need:

  • Excellent experience of working successfully with enterprise Intranet platforms with excellent content management skills, especially for intranets and communication platforms built on the M365 stack including SharePoint, Teams and Viva.
  • Previous experience of editing copy and content for intranet
  • Proven ability to analyse customer requirements and advice, from both technical and missional colleagues, and develop solutions to support the delivery of their needs
  • Previous strong experience of producing clear and concise documentation including user support guidelines and training materials
  • Capacity to forge strong business relationships with external suppliers
  • Good interpersonal and negotiation skills and political awareness
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and proactively on own initiative
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral English)
  • A positive, 'cando', and flexible attitude


In Summer 2023 The Territorial Headquarters will be moving to a new, modern headquarters at Denmark Hill, London, SE5 8BQ.

This exciting new building will provide a more effective workplace to help The Salvation Army better achieve its mission.
