Great Western Hospital

Swindon, SN3 6BB

Full time (37.5 hours per week), Permanent

Mon - Fri (split shifts, earlies and lates)

Here at Serco we are looking for a Maintenance Assistat with a proactive approach to join Great Western Hospital, Swindon.

Reporting into the Building Fabric Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing safe and efficient maintenance of the Building Fabric and equipment within the hospital.


In this role you will carry out reactive repairs, fault finding, service commissioning and maintenance to a wide range of Services, Plant and Equipment.

You will carry out PPM to a wide range of Plant and Equipment and will communicate to Supervisors or Managers any unrepaired faults or defects or requirements for Spare Parts.

This is a vital but very busy exciting role, and you will need to be prepared to attend work or work beyond expected finishing time in exceptional circumstances, overtime paid.


You will need to be flexible to cover shifts Monday to Friday on site operational hours of 07:00 - 19:00, working flexibly to gain access to hospital department areas.


What you'll need


To be successful in this role you will ideally be qualified and have proven experience working in a building services environment.

You will need good communication and customer service skills and possess a recognised appropriate Apprenticeship or other relevant structured Training Program:


  • Level 2 NVQ
  • Level 2 National/Diploma Certificate
  • Working at height, Ladder & tower scaffolds
  • Proven experience of working in a similar environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of Building Services
  • Good communication and customer service skills
